State your hypothesis, tying your project back to the impact it might have.
Currently, these type of stories have a very short shelf-life, and get completely lost on our site. By having a landing page, those stories live longer, encouraging us to do more! |

Which metrics would you use to track the success of this project? We will use this as the foundation of our experiment design. (Optional)
Pageviews. More visual-first reportage. With smart metadata, it also has the potential to create more organic traffic by folks looking for local event coverage, or some of the unique events we have in Oregon. |

What problem are we trying to solve for our communities with this experiment? How might it help us better serve them?
There are stories that are best told through photo essays, illustrations, interactive graphics, etc., that may not fit neatly into any of our beats. When those stories are created, they live briefly in "most recent" on the home page, but once they fall off of that, they are not easily accessible again. For example, this story about a Samoan festival would not be included in any current beats/shows (arts & culture, science & environment, politics, etc): https://www.opb.org/article/2024/07/14/portland-vancouver-annual-samoan-festival/ Having a landing page that can be easily accessed from the main menu would give those stories a place to live. It also encourages more storytelling from our communities on topics and events not covered by beat reporters. These stories are also great on our social platforms and on the website, would give folks a place to explore different types of stories in an alternative way. |
