Which metrics would you use to track the success of this project? We will use this as the foundation of our experiment design. (Optional)

What problem are we trying to solve for our communities with this experiment? How might it help us better serve them?
Define the goal of the "in the news bar" from the audience perspective. What does it help the audience do and what does it help opb do? Audience perspective (tbd): The "In the News" bar helps the audience quickly access the most important and timely news, enhancing their connection to current events. It drives traffic to key content, increasing engagement metrics and supporting business goals. Potential hypothesis: We aim to address the issue of limited engagement with the "In the News" bar on mobile devices by ensuring users can easily access more than just the first few items. This experiment will help us better serve our community by making important news more accessible and improving the user experience across all devices. |

Lay out the potential project steps to the best of your ability, including key teams that would need to be consulted. This is your best knowledge of the systems, tools and lift that would be required.
Analyze current usage: Review analytics to understand user interaction with the "In the News" bar across different screen sizes. Break up by screen size ranges (mobile, tablet, desktop) - are mobile web users getting to anything beyond first couple? Scope desired capabilities: Assess Arc’s collection capabilities and how they can be leveraged for this project. Discuss whether the "in the news" bar will focus more on landing pages in general How frequently are we changing items How many items show on mobile if items are pinned? Does it need to say "in the news" to get back some of our character count How do want the text to stack? Can we look at data about how far people are getting into the scroll? Combination of collection and manual - will that become complicated. Revisit emoji capabilities and styling options (links?) and how does that work in tandem with the app? Technical feasibility: Discuss the technical aspects of combining collection and manual curation without complicating the process. Design prototype. Monitor and iterate: Collect data post-launch to evaluate success and make necessary adjustments. |
